“THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYEES – THEY ARE PEOPLE” – (PETER DRUCKER) - Chairman Emeritus’ Corner  7/12/2010

“THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYEES – THEY ARE PEOPLE” – (PETER DRUCKER)

The major role of the entrepreneurial CEO is to assemble the team (particularly the “game-breaking” positions) and then provide the environment in which they can flourish.

Locating – attracting – interviewing is so important that it should not be delegated.  The new hire must share the entrepreneur’s ethics and principles – must share the vision – must be creative – and welcome change!

They must be provided with job training and team training, i.e. not only to do their job, but become a team member.  They must come to work because they want to – not because they have to!

The tools for motivation include:

    organization charts
    job descriptions
    goal setting
accountability (define – give goals – provide feedback – follow-up)
    performance reviews
    compensation plans
    positive reinforcement

The above are key to success!
